POSITION DESCRIPTION
AREA: Elementary Teacher-4th Grade Long Term Substitute (Approximately March 31, 2025-June 5, 2025)
LOCATIONS: Muldown Elementary School

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
Provides instruction and leadership in order to enable students to develop a love of learning and to enjoy fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, psychological and physical growth and maturation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Whitefish Public Schools seeks candidates with strong character, passion for excellence and a relentless commitment to student achievement. Applicants should also meet the following requirements):
- Valid Montana teaching licensure with an elementary endorsement
- Successful experience as a classroom or pre-service teacher
- Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development
- Ability to relate to and work with children and adolescents
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents/family members, support staff, teachers supervisors, and the general public
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from students, parents/families, staff and the community
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience teaching at the elementary level
- Experience with and demonstrated ability to supervise/coach extra-curricular activities/athletics
- Experience teaching a multi-age classroom

- While working towards goals and objectives, uses a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, discovery, etc
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities
- Respects authority and carries out Board Policy and administrative directives
- Commands good verbal and written skills
- Practices teaching as an integration of disciplines
- Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers
- Evaluates academic and social growth of pupils to prescribed criteria and keeps appropriate records
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned school day
- Plans and coordinates the work of parent assistants and volunteers
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.May be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
School year working days as set by the Board of Trustees. Salary, benefits and other working conditions as negotiated between the Whitefish School District and Whitefish Education Association and as assigned by the administration.

Performance of said duties will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
