SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
The business teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to be prepared for postsecondary success. These measures are based on benchmarks of success that include academic content knowledge, cognitive and higher-order thinking strategies, critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration and communication, and grit/resilience/perseverance. This long term substitute business teacher will teach Economics, Marketing II, and Personal Finance utilizing the school’s curriculum as a means to meet Montana State Standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Whitefish Public Schools seeks candidates with strong character, passion for excellence and a relentless commitment to student achievement. Applicants should also meet the following requirements);
- Valid Montana Secondary Business Teaching License
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience with the utilization and instruction of multimedia technology.
- Ability to integrate written and verbal communication with various forms of technology to create multimedia productions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong background using and applying mathematics, English and Language Arts/Literacy resources and technology in the classroom.
- Background experience and ability to teach high school-level courses that prepare students to successfully plan and pursue postsecondary education, training and a career path aligned to their personal goals, with the ability to adapt and innovate as job demands change.
- Understands, embraces and promotes the ability to think critically and solve problems, communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and be self-directed in the learning process.

- Instructs students using effective instructional strategies such as research projects, group discussions, collaboration, and project based learning
- Guides students through the process of planning for their future through the refinement of skills necessary for college and career success

- Meets and instructs assigned class(s) in the locations and at times assigned.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Prepares for classes assigned and prepares and maintains weekly lesson plans articulating the prescribed curriculum.
- Provides differentiated instruction to ensure the success of all learners
- Integrates thinking strategies and study skills throughout all disciplines
- Designs learning experiences grounded in Rigor, Relevance and Relationships
- Develops, prepares, and delivers district curriculum utilizing the Montana Common Core Standards
- Implements principles of integrated literacy and reading skills.
- Communicates effectively with students, staff, and parents
- Demonstrates a willingness to work with the District and Building Vision in mind—preparing students for College, Career, and Citizenship.
- Prepares and maintains course content sheets.
- Develops and maintains unit plans.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the students.
- Implements through instruction and action, the District's philosophy of instruction and instructional goals and objectives.
- Takes all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District Policy and Administrative regulations.
- Upholds and enforces school rules, Administrative regulations and Board Policy.
- Communicates student progress to parents.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
- Cooperates with Administration and other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, methods and ascertaining student guided activities and self-guided activities.
- Assists in selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
- Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
- Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of readings, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
- Fulfills other responsibilities as assigned.
- May need to teach in any area of endorsement(s)
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.May be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
School year working days as set by the Board of Trustees. Salary, benefits and other working conditions as negotiated between the Whitefish School District and Whitefish Education Association and as assigned by the administration.
EVALUATION:
Performance of said duties will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
