POSITION DESCRIPTION
AREA: Assistant Coach
REPORTS TO: Head Coach/Activities Director
SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
Complements the coaching activities of the Head Coach and carries out directives within the policies set by MHSA, Class A, Western A Division and the Administration of Whitefish High School and the Activities Director of Whitefish High School.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses high school diploma or its equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Is a certified teacher
- Possesses previous coaching experience
- Possesses competition experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
- Participates as a member of Whitefish High School's Coaching Staff.
- Reports directly to the Head Coach.
- Responsible to Activities Director, Principal and/or Superintendent.
- Demonstrates ability to be a proper role model for high school youth.
- Demonstrates ability to accept constructive criticism.
- Is punctual, dependable, a self-starter.
- Demonstrates ability to meet and deal with public.
- Possesses knowledge of Title IX implications.
- Possesses current certified first aid and CPR card.
- Demonstrates ability to hold self and others accountable.
- Assists Head Coach in carrying out overall program.
- Scouts as directed.
- Supervises locker room or other areas utilized by the program.
- Carries out all aspects of coaches' handbook.
- Maintains equipment inventory.
- Coordinates, monitors training/practice schedules, drills/preparation.
- Supervises students at contests, on road trips.
- Analyzes coaching performance.
- Enforces training rules.
- Follows directives of Head Coach, Activities Director and/or Administration as they pertain to coaching and being part of Whitefish School District No. 44.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions:
- Persons performing service in this position will exert 10 to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift,carry,push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- This type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position.
- Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Employed for prescribed term, salary, benefits and other working conditions to be determined by District Policy, Federal and State Law as well as appropriate funding from state, federal, and/or passage of levies.
